Technical Development Specialist

Kevin works as a Technical Development Specialist with BASF. His main role is technology transfer – moving information and products from the researcher who created them to the farmer who will use them.

When he was finished high school Kevin knew he wanted to pursue a career in either chemical engineering or agriculture – he now knows he chose the better of the two options. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in agriculture and later a Master of Sciences. While in university, Kevin was employed as a summer research assistant with BASF and then Monsanto. This work experience played a major role in helping to secure a good job when he finished university. Once he completed his studies, Kevin searched for full-time work, leading him to a position with BASF.

Kevin works as a Technical Development Specialist with BASF, one of the world’s leading crop protection companies. His main role is technology transfer – moving information and products from the researcher who created them to the farmer who will use them. Kevin functions as the middleman between the research team, the marketing and sales staff and the producer, providing technical training on new products and support as needed. For example, if there are questions about product application, he works with the producer and the researchers at BASF to find a solution.

Kevin believes the perks of working in agriculture are obvious. It is an exciting, growing industry, with plenty of opportunities. He has found the industry, and his employer, to emphasize professional development. BASF is currently supporting Kevin as he pursues his professional agrologist designation and takes a certified crop science consultant course.
